Good morning, Blackbirds!
We had our time in Foolโs Springโs sun, and today, Winterโs last gasp is having its way with my town. But while snow is burying the red buds outside my window, Iโm here to herald brighter things to come!
Hemlock is backโฆ With slightly more clothes than usual, and another friend. ๐ Many of you have probably seen bits and pieces of the development of Aprilโs postcard on IG or Twitter already, but Iโve kept the full image a secret! Next week Iโll show you the finished work!
I was inspired to make Aprilโs postcard by the garment work of Laine, @dearhyacinthus. They have been crafting chest binders inspired by historical foundation garments, with boning and ribbon laces up the sides. As a binder-wearer myself, I was really deeply touched by the idea of a binder as a beautifying garment, a binder that decorates a body as it shapes it, rather than one that attempts to render itself invisible.
Can you count the Rossetti paintings that contributed to this image?
Aprilโs postcard will be delivered to Crow Collectors and Raven Dandies!
