This piece was both fun and challenging! 😄🎨 

The way I approached color in this piece was a bit different in that I painted the main shadow color as the BASE 🌑 and then painted the blown-out highlights on top. 🌟  Because of that, you may notice in the timelapse that the colors start out looking SO weird. It definitely isn't a way that I'm used to working, but since she is mostly in shadow, I thought I would give it a try! And I did like the results.  I will probably try playing more with this way of working and having characters more in shadow with hot highlights like this since it really helps a piece pop. 🔥
You'd think that putting a character's face in shadow would be bad; it's something I'm always kind of hesitant to do, but actually, it works surprisingly well! 

Anyway, thank you all for the super kind feedback on this piece! 😊🙏 I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear that the feeling of joy from this piece really comes through.

 I feel like this is one of the first years that I have really appreciated the sun and summer. 🌞🌴 Maybe it's because I've been in Sweden for nearly 5 years now, and for me, this past winter just felt sooooo dark that when the sun comes out, it feels AMAZING. 🌈☀️ I know it sounds a bit dramatic, but feeling the sun on your face when you live in a place where it is so rare is almost a spiritual or divine experience. ✨ I guess that's why there are sun deities! Haha. ☀️

Anyhoo, I'm in the middle of working on the upcoming tutorial on drawing male faces, and I'm super excited about it! 🎉 I feel like in the past year I've become a lot more comfortable with the topic, and I'm excited to share the principles that have made it more comfortable for me to draw men with you all! 📚
